There are interesting groups of volunteers who seek to spread the SpeleoTrekking, discipline that filters and blends, stimulates observation and meditation when you enter in naturalistic environments forgotten, to exult in front of a waterfall, returns and creates a magical children atmosphere.
But not everyone knows that in the north-western province of Crotone, in common between Verzino, Castelsilano, Cerenzia, Caccuri e Belvedere Spinello, vi è un geosito che, per diversità di forme carsiche e superficiali e sviluppo di sistemi ipogei, è uno dei più importanti sistemi carsici in gessi d’Italia.
Lo sviluppo dei fenomeni carsici in questo territorio ha dato origine a sei grandi cavità: la Grave Grubbo, Grotta dello Stige, l’Antro del Torchia, la Grave dei due Manfred, la Grotta del Palummaro e del Nasone.
Le splendide cavità modellate dall’acqua, attraversate per tutta la lunghezza da fiumi sotterranei perenni, offrono ai visitatori incantevoli e suggestivi scenari: ambienti notevolmente ampi con altezze che superano i 15 metri, doline in mezzo alla campagna, stalattiti e stalagmiti nonché tipi di special flora and fauna including white columns of bats.
